Mission
The Senior Manager – RF Planning will manage and coordinate all RF/BSS planning activities across designated regions, ensuring cost-effective design, planning, and improvement of radio base station coverage and capacity. This role is critical to achieving MTN Nigeria’s annual network rollout objectives and supporting marketing and business plans.
You will also oversee the implementation of new business initiatives such as collocation and infrastructure sharing, while aligning regional RF planning requirements with MTN’s central strategic direction.
Key Responsibilities

Approve high-level BTS site and radio base station designs via integrated planning processes.

Review nominal RF network plans for coverage and capacity against marketing forecasts.

Track and monitor radio network dimensioning, performance, and KPIs.

Ensure compliance with best practices in planning and identify opportunities for improvement.

Manage radio network design to support subscriber growth forecasts.

Oversee rollout of nominal coverage and capacity nationwide.

Monitor detailed RF designs from regional teams for alignment with central strategy.

Ensure timely RF design delivery in line with regulatory requirements for GSM rollout.

Present rollout status and performance reports at Coverage Steercom meetings.

Maintain competitor activity knowledge and market intelligence.

Ensure low-level planning, monitoring, and performance testing feedback loops.

Drive timely provision of transmission, site acquisition, and dependencies for BTS rollout.

Ensure proper documentation of RF projects and procedures across regions.

Support identification of specialist tools and solutions for coverage and capacity enhancements.
Education & Qualifications
-
First degree in Electrical/Electronics or Telecommunications Engineering (or related fields).

Fluent in English.
-
MSc in Telecommunications or equivalent is an advantage.
Experience
-
6–13 years’ experience, including:
-
Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory/management role.
-
Experience in RF Planning and Optimization within dynamic telecom environments.
-
Multi-vendor network experience.
-
Familiarity with Ericsson and Huawei equipment desirable.

Experience in medium to large organizations.
